About us

Not a name — a description

We are Christians in Glasgow who have believed into the Lord Jesus Christ and simply gather as His church in this city.

Who we are

Believers in Jesus, in Glasgow

We have personally received the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and He has become the centre of our lives. We take the Bible, God's written revelation, as our unique standard for faith and practice.

“The church in Glasgow” is not a title we've invented or a denomination we've joined — it's simply a description of who we are: believers in the Lord gathering in this city. Because of that, we gladly receive every genuine believer in Christ as our brother or sister, and everyone, of any faith or none, is welcome among us.

Our testimony

Three things shape our life together as a church:

  • Christ as life. The Christian life is more than beliefs and behaviour — it is Christ Himself living in us. We pursue knowing and experiencing Him day by day.
  • Every member functioning. The church isn't a service run by a few professionals. Every believer has something of Christ to share, so our gatherings leave room for each one to take part.
  • One family in one city. Christ has only one Body, so we seek to stand on the ground of oneness — receiving all believers in Glasgow as one family, regardless of background.

Our history

The local churches began through a remarkable work of God in China in the 1920s, through the ministry of Watchman Nee, and continued through his co-worker Witness Lee, whose ministry carried the churches to Taiwan, across Asia, and on to Europe, the Americas, and beyond. Today thousands of local churches on six continents share this same testimony, meeting simply as believers in their own cities.

The church in Glasgow stands in that line — an ordinary group of believers seeking to know Christ, to be built up together, and to bear a simple testimony of the oneness of the Body of Christ in this city. Our fellowship reaches around the world, including the church in London and churches throughout the UK.

What we believe

We hold the faith which is common to all believers — nothing more, and nothing less.
